About

Two Canterbury teams.
One rooftop.

Our own bar team pour the drinks. Notorious BRG run the kitchen. Together, they're The Rooftop.

The Rooftop

A rooftop in the middle of the city, run by people who know it.

The Rooftop sits up on St Margaret's Street, a few minutes' walk from the Cathedral it looks out over. It's open to hotel guests and to everyone else, and it's meant to feel relaxed: come up for a drink after work, sit out on the terrace at sunset, or bring the whole team for dinner. Everyone's welcome.

It works because each team does what it does best. The bar is run by the team at Hampton by Hilton Canterbury, and Notorious BRG, Canterbury's independent burger kitchen, run the food. Two local businesses, one rooftop.

The bar

The Rooftop bar team

Our own team run the rooftop bar: classic cocktails done properly, plus spritz, beers, wine and coffee, served with the same welcome you get downstairs.

The kitchen

Notorious BRG

An independent Canterbury burger kitchen since 2019, cooking everything in house: burgers, loaded fries, mac and nachos, with plant-based swaps across the menu.

The kitchen's story

From Castle Street
to the rooftop.

  1. 2019

    Castle Street

Notorious BRG opens its doors on Castle Street, Canterbury, in September 2019.

  2. 2020

Forged in the fires of Covid

Months later the pandemic shuts hospitality down. BRG keeps cooking, adapts fast and comes out stronger.

  3. Beyond

    Faversham, Maidstone & London

The kitchen cooks across Kent and in London, learning something new at every stop.

  4. Now

    The Rooftop

Back in Canterbury, running the kitchen at The Rooftop alongside the bar team.

Two teams, one rooftop

Our crowning achievement, and it belongs to both teams.

The rooftop menu

Similar enough
to trust, different enough to try.

The rooftop menu is built on the BRG favourites people already know, with a few things you'll only find up here. Pair it with a Rooftop Favourite from the bar.
